Hopefully you already realize the timeless truth of two simple yet profound words: prayer works. At Hope, we believe prayer is an exciting and powerful component of the Christian life – and this includes lifting up the needs of others, as well as praying for ourselves.

In it’s simplest definition, prayer is simply talking with God. Not talking to him, as some are in the habit of doing, but having genuine, two-way communication with the Creator of heaven and earth; the One who made you and knows you…yet still loves you. Now that’s the kind of God worth talking with.

Most people would agree that our worship services have a strong element of prayer – and there’s an ongoing objective of modeling effective prayer – but our pastors set aside time every day to talk with God about the specific needs of the Hope family. This is a crucial part of their calling, and played out 200 years ago in the early church.

Acts 6:1-4
"1In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. 2So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, "It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. 3Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them 4and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word."
